How Much Interest Does Your CPF Earn?

Your CPF savings earn guaranteed interest backed by the Singapore Government. Your OA earns a floor rate of 2.5% per annum, while your SA, MA, and Retirement Account earn interest pegged to the 10-year Singapore Government Securities yield plus 1% — with a guaranteed minimum of 4% per annum. Below are current rates, historical trends, and how your contributions are distributed across accounts for each of the 8 age brackets.

How Your CPF Interest Is Determined

Understanding CPF Interest Rates

Special, MediSave & Retirement Accounts

Floor rate (minimum guaranteed)

Pegged Formula:

10-year SGS yield + 1% OR floor rate, whichever is higher

Floor Rate vs Pegged Rate

Floor Rate:The minimum guaranteed interest rate your CPF accounts will earn, regardless of market conditions.
Pegged Rate:For SMRA accounts, the interest rate is linked (pegged) to the 12-month average of 10-year Singapore Government Securities (SGS) yield, plus 1%.
Actual Rate:You always receive the higher of the two rates - either the pegged rate or the floor rate.

Interest Rate Trend

CPF Interest Rate Trends (12-Month View)

How it works: The SMRA (Special, MediSave & Retirement Accounts) interest rate is pegged to the 12-month average of 10-year Singapore Government Securities (SGS) yield plus 1%. When this pegged rate falls below 4%, members receive the floor rate of 4% instead.

Why floor rates matter: Floor rates protect your CPF savings during periods of low interest rates. Even when market rates fall below the floor, your CPF accounts continue to earn the guaranteed minimum rate, ensuring consistent growth of your retirement savings.

CPF Extra Interest: How the 1% Bonus Works

CPF members earn extra interest on top of base rates to boost retirement savings. This bonus interest applies to the first portion of your combined CPF balances.

Under Age 55

+1%

On the first S$60,000 of combined OA + SA + MA balances

Max extra interest: S$600 per year

Age 55 and Above

+1% + 1%

Base tier: +1% on first S$60,000 of combined balances
Senior tier: Additional +1% on first S$30,000 of combined balances

Max extra interest: S$900 per year

How it works: The extra interest is paid into your Special Account (or Retirement Account if you're 55+). This means your SA/RA grows faster, directly increasing your CPF LIFE payouts in retirement.

Example: A 30-year-old with S$50,000 across OA + SA + MA earns an extra S$500 per year (S$42 per month) on top of base rates.
